Autumn Inspo. [picture heavy]

Since I’m moving into a new place next week, it’s the perfect time to get my head on straight for autumn decor. The first year I was married, being silly, I bought the fake leaf garland from Target for fall. Yes, I did it and I’ll admit it ashamedly (no offense to those of you that use it and love it.). However, this year I really want my decorations to be more personal and traditional, especially knowing that Jake would love to help me make some garland HA.  So i will definitely be making lovely long strands for the house. With that being said, here are some garlands that I love. It’s a fight between felt and paper!!

This one might look cute in fall colors. and it would be extremely cheap. ;]

Here is some more fall inspo that I fell fond of.

ok so this isn’t very autumn-like, but I made some last year as decor for Christmas

and I think they would be equally as cute in fall colors. agreed?

and they are really fun and easy to make. that’s always a plus.

I was thinking I could use the leftover burlap from the tea party

to make these leaf trivet/placemats. maybe?

Tea Party!

So here are the pictures I promised!! It was a fun afternoon and I was so happy with the way our table turned out. We had to nix a few ideas, but generally I think it was just as we had imagined.

We used burlap sacks that we cut as table runners, some of my craft jars (a few wrapped in twine) and some random flowers and other elements my sis in law had found. For the place mats we used 12x12 sheets of cork, available in the scrapbook paper section at Michael's, and made wooden coasters. We obviously used pears for place cards with a leaf tag and I made cupcake pops (bakerella) shaped like pears and stuck them in wheat grass.

and this is me and my mom :).

and most importantly, those that were able to share it with me were those that I could rely on the most (with the exception of Tasha & Ash who weren’t able to come because of more important obligations <3).

I can honestly say that my sister in law Jenn (ironic, eh?) is one of my very best friends. She is always there for me..but unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of us with my camera! dagnabbit.

on a slightly different note, this week has been stressful in many ways, with school and some other drama. It’s been hard, I’ve got to admit, but thank heavens I have a great husband and a God who hears us when we call.

He’s so great to us, we’re so blessed.

However next week we have a break from school before fall quarter and we move! I’m so excited (never thought I'd hear myself say that!), and I’m even more excited for autumn. My next post will probably consist of decoration inspiration (you know you’re excited too!), so keep checking in!

Keep us in your prayers. :)

Dear October, November and December,

It has been been decided that Jake and I will be devoting our free time spent with you to arts and craft fairs, fall and winter festivals and markets in the park/farmer's markets. We just can't deprive ourselves of the fabulous foods and goodies that you offer. In fact, we have already filled our weekend agendas with fun-filled events and holiday activities. Hope you don't mind.

Thank you for being our favorite time of the year.
We love you so

Love,
Jenn & Jake.

[p.s. I will update either tomorrow or later this week with pictures from the Tea Party.] :)

jake and I have been super busy the last 2 weeks, trying to find a new place to move into, since our lease is up on the 30th of this month (yes, we tend to procrastinate). We finally found a place that we liked today and quickly put a deposit down. What a relief.

Next week is finals for us so we wouldn't have much time to really devote ourselves to finding a place then... and then the week after is when we will have to move. Phew.

We've decided that we might start looking to purchase a house within the next year. We kind of wanted to wait until I graduated but since technically I'm graduating next year anyways, time is of the essence. We really weren't in any rush, but since there are so many first time buyer opportunities right now, and after going through the process of finding a home to lease, it's worth more just to buy. Plusss, we might be thinking of extending our family within the next two years. JUST a thought...

But today was blessed. and it was a good day. now I feel more motivated to pack, i guess. I should probably hop to it!

but first I will share a lovely print that i found on Etsy:

Boomerang!

ok yes, I'm lame and I'll admit it. But yea, I was shocked to see that Craftzine had blogged about a vintage store I'd recently visited last month in Vermont called Boomerang and the guy who owns it (Matt Maranian). I was so giddy I just had to share it with someone. If that isn’t the sign of a geek, I don’t know what is.

So I visited this store and it was awesome. I wish I lived in Vermont, specifically for the store, no joke. okay I'm joking a little :P

However, I am determined to shop here every time we make a trip to Vermont. As a matter of fact the trip will revolve around a visit to Boomerang. HA! juuusttt kiddingggg! not.

Here's the vintage dress (& sunglasses for 5 BUCKS!) I stumbled upon and luckily purchased while I was there. oh yea, and my husband being a goof. but a cute goof at that.

YES. that shirt on the right is lined in wool and Jake would have bought it, if I hadn’t beaten the voice of reason into him. he’s so lucky to have me, eh? (just kidding, it wasn’t THAT bad. just completely unreasonable seeing as how we live in the sunshine state. ha)

they had new and used clothing, t-shirts, vintage goods, awesome locally made jewelry and more. much MUCH more.

Moral of the story? if anyone ever goes to Brattleboro, Vermont, visit this store. AND the one a few stores down called Altiplano. It’s got awesome stuff too. :). It won’t disappoint.

I really want to go to the dollar store today. I think I just might.

What's everyone up to today?

uh, yea and I've undoubtedly added THESE to my Christmas list.

So this is my new & way improved iPhone cozy. dun dadaduuuuun!

i love it. My iPhone fits perfectly in the cozy, which fits perfectly in my bag and I’m such a proud mama. After the first disaster, I mapped out my process much differently for the second round and I was determined! Even though it took me a good 2.5 hours. oh the dedication, indeed.

I think I’m going to make a bunch in various color schemes. This one is for fall [obviously]. it looks much like a candy corn, ha. Any ideas for colors?

oh, and I bought the OPI matte nail polish today in Metro Chic. (has anyone else heard about it?) I saw a review about the matte collection online and was interested, so I tried it out today. So far I like it, but we’ll see as the week goes on.
